Schmidt Schmidt & Schmidt Construction, INC.
is a family owned general contracting firm
evolving from 56 years and three generations
of operating in the Southern California
Area. In 1949, M.L. Schmidt General
Contracting was started by Bruce’s father.
Bruce left M.L. Schmidt’s contracting firm
in 1975 to start Schmidt and Schmidt
Construction in Santa Barbara/Ventura. Lee
(Beau) Schmidt, Bruce’s son, stepped into
the company as a partner in 2000.
Schmidt & Schmidt Construction specializes
in new construction, design, remodeling and
structural remedial work, both in
residential and commercial settings. We have
extensive hillside construction experience
and the equipment to do elaborate foundation
systems, retaining systems and caissons. We
also have specialized in exposed, distressed
beam work, and other custom finishes, such
as rock work, Venetian finishes, natural
grotto pools, outside living areas, cabanas,
etc.
INSURANCE WORK
For over twenty-five years, Schmidt and
Schmidt have specialized in insurance repair
work: fire restoration, earth settlement,
etc. In the process of serving our customers
and meeting their needs, we have had to
learn the language of the “insurance
policy”, and how to interpret those “grey
areas” of coverage to our clients benefit.
We have found in too many cases adjustors
make arbitrary decisions regarding the
limits of coverage. In times such as these
adjustors are covering numerous losses and
too often unaware of local building costs.
Being a construction company that
specializes in custom, architectural
finishes, we fully understand what it takes
in quality, service and cost to rebuild a
custom home.
Schmidt and Schmidt also offers consulting
and recommendations with regard to toxic
materials and allergens. Bruce Schmidt’s
Master’s degree in Environmental Health and
Toxicology from U.C. Berkeley also gives the
company an awareness in building related
health issues (i.e. mold, allergies, toxic
glues and adhesives, etc.).
Over the years, Schmidt and Schmidt
Construction has designed and built numerous
houses in Santa Barbara, Ventura and San
Luis Obispo while also working with many of
the local notable architects and designers.
The firm prides itself on its attention to
detail in building many period style homes
(French Cottage, Classic Spanish, Hacienda
style and Craftsman to name a few). Over the
years of working in the community we have
established relationships with the best
vendors and subcontractors the community has
to offer, including those specialists and
suppliers from outside the area.
Schmidt & Schmidt Construction carries full
Liability Insurance, Workers Comp and is
Bondable as necessary. References are
